hi jwners,.
i think we are stuck with the ones we have chosen but how about a thread with good ideas for name for those signing up?.
it is can be difficult to think of a good one at the moment of signing up so here's mine for any lurker that wants to be.
if it wasn't god's purpose for us to live forever on the earth, where would adam be right now?.
After all, if Adam & Eve hadn't sinned, the unique combination of ancestors that led up to your existence would never have occurred.
i.e., if you're going to go the "Genesis is literally true in all its details" route, you should be supremely grateful for Adam's sin, because without it, you wouldn't be here to ponder the question.
Just to show how far you could take these arguments: wouldn't a God of justice bring "to life" in the New Systemâ„¢ all of the perfect offspring they would have had, but didn't have? Seems a little unfair that those perfect-innocent-children-that-never-were would miss out on ever existing.
newbie poster here looking for advice.
i've been looking for posts on the borg moving away from a literal understanding of isaiah 65:25 and couldn't find any.
i posted in the private support members only area with a much longer post and it's been pretty much ignored.
Can you imagine how pissed off a snake would get trying to fang a blade of grass?
That caused uncontrollable uncontained laughter. At work. Out loud. Thanks!
been a while since i posted here, but driving into work the other day i recalled how "excited" we all were when it was announced that scientists had discovered "proof" that there is a full "day" missing astronomically, for the exact period of time covered by joshua's having the sun stand still, and isaiah having the sun move backwards, sending the shadow back up the steps for hezekiah.. that got me searching jwd for a thread about this topic, and i didn't find one, but i did find this snopes article.. http://www.snopes.com/religion/lostday.asp.

some of you may already be aware of the new ex-jw magazine that's been in the works for some time.
well, the day has finally come and i'm happy to let you know that jwrecovery magazine is now available online and for free download at www.jwrecovery.org.
it features articles, interviews and columns by many ex-jws throughout the community including:.
Have downloaded the PDF to read during work tomorrow; nice job on the website--very clean and crisp look--I like that. Bookmarked it for perusal later, as well. GOOD JOB!
i had to pick my daughter up from my mothers yesterday after going to the district convention.
i hate having to listen to how my mother has bumped into so and so and they've been asking about me.. she bumped into some of my ex's family who stopped and chatted.
so two faced all of them.. it kind of gets my back up and i can feel anger coming up when i hear people who i used to respect asking after me, then if i were to walk past them in the street i know most of them would try to avoid me.. to top it all my mother has been dropping hints as to whether i will go with her.
I totally understand. My oldest daughter (still living at home) just started attending meetings again... when she comes home it's all she talks about in front of the family. "So and so misses you!" "They're so happy to see me, want me to join their congregation instead of one of the other two that meet there, because they need more help and have been having people move away..." (sigh)
life in the new system, did you give it much thought?
sure, we would be brought to perfection, and there would be a resurrection, but how about other things?.
in my years growing up and living as a jw, i never really thought about it that much.
I struggled with foreign languages in school, and hated the idea of having to learn Hebrew in the New System... I was hoping Jehovah would just magically make us understand it.
i was riding to work yesterday when i observed a female driver who cut right in front of a pickup truck, causing the driver to drive onto the shoulder to avoid hitting her.
this evidently angered the driver enough that he hung his arm out his window and gave the woman the finger.
'man, that guy is stupid,' i thought to myself.
When women drivers flip me off or start screaming at me (very rare--I try to be a courteous driver), I blow them kisses.
It's always anybody's guess as to what happens next...
hope this link works.

Thanks for posting these! I've never seen his work before, it's truly brilliant comedic writing and performance.
All the episodes are here, under ... (wait for it...) ... "episodes": http://www.mrdeity.com
lol... has any one seen this film, or at least the following scene?.
despereaux a tiny mouse with enormously large ears is born.
mouse dad: "we need to tell them, we need to tell the mouse council".
tsar_robles, you had the same reaction to that scene as I did when I watched the movie for the first time last night. I just searched the archives to see if anybody else had posted about it.
We have the book in the house--my girls have all read it, but I had not. So the movie and story were "fresh" to me, and I couldn't help but notice the similarities to the JW way of thinking, about not crossing certain lines and being considered an outsider if you would not conform, even if you were doing nothing wrong.
Thanks for your post about this!!
